About me
I have been involved in the after school sector for, going on, 5 years now with varying degrees, but I really found a connection with AmeriCorps. Through my service I gained experience in leading in the after school sector and in the classroom sector as a math aid. In my years I have learned that kids just want to be seen as capable and it is our job to show them just that. I was serving a middle school with a very collective positive attitude toward math and I believe this is an attitude that served the students well, and was palpable. I am currently the site coordinator at an elementary school and have implemented these attitudes and language into the program. I have felt a shift in perspective around math and academics as a whole. The way we talk about things matters and math is no exception.
