About me
Liz Huizar is the Executive Director of the Southeast Seattle Education Coalition (SESEC). She has dedicated her career to advancing education justice for communities historically excluded and underserved by formal systems. Liz brings years of experience working at the intersection of youth development, racial equity, and community organizing.
At SESEC, Liz leads coalition-building efforts to center the voices of BIPOC families and community-based organizations in Southeast Seattle, working toward a more equitable and just education system. She is passionate about shifting power into community hands and believes that those most impacted must lead the solutions. Liz is a changemaker who deeply cares about those she works with and the community she serves.
A graduate of San Diego State & San Jose State, Liz earned a Bachelors’ in Political Science and a Masters’ in Mexican American Studies emphasis on Education Policy. Liz participated in the Young American Leaders Program hosted at Harvard Business School, Class of 2024. She was also named Kraken Hero of Sea and the 2025 Sounders FC Community Assist Fan of the Game. She proudly serves as a board member for Villa Comunitaria and Alliance for Education.
