Professor Brian Brandt is an Associate Professor of 4-H Youth Development with over 30 years of experience supporting youth programs through engaging experiential education. Maintaining the "heart of a child," he believes play is a powerful tool for building active, resilient teams. Brian specializes in designing robust conflict management systems that empower staff and volunteers through clarity and shared purpose. His work replaces reactive, ad-hoc responses with consistent, values-based frameworks—such as the WSU Extension Volunteer Conflict Model—to promote fairness and organizational resilience. He has trained hundreds of community volunteers and professionals nationally, including at the International Association of Experiential Education. His approach integrates research on adult development with experiential learning, emphasizing that the best way to support a team is through continuous coaching, learning facilitation, and professional improvement.
